Joomla is a free and open-source content management system where you can publish website content, it is mobile-ready and user-friendly. Just like PrestaShop, you have a way to change the URL for branding. However, there are a few things to check:
- Check if your domain name should point to the correct Joomla directory
- Check if your configuration file uses the correct database
Joomla websites do not require changing the configuration file since the website will work as long as the domain name is pointing to the correct directory. Any issues that you may encounter, the steps below will show you how to change your site URL:
Step 1. Log in to the cPanel using this link format: http://yourdomain.com/cpanel
Replace yourdomain.com with the Main Domain Name connected to your hosting.
Step 2. Click File Manager under the Files Panel.
Step 3. Locate your Joomla directory, and locate the configuration.php file.
Step 4. Select the configuration.php file, right-click and choose Edit.
A pop-up will come up, click Edit again.
Step 5. Look for ‘public $live_site =’ and add the new Joomla website URL in between the apostrophes.
|Note: Step 6 can be skipped if there were no change in the root folder of the installation. If there was, please continue on the last step.|
Step 6. Check the ‘$log_path’ and ‘$tmp_path’, change the paths with the new ones. Click Save on the top-right.
