Avoid confusion and know the difference between cPanel (Control Panel) and WHM using this quick guide.
What is cPanel?
cPanel is a login portal where you can manage websites and emails.
This is used by website owners or web developers to upload files, manage databases, create email accounts, do web / email forwarding and more specific configurations that are associated with websites and emails. It also allows you to install CMS applications and modify FTP passwords, database user passwords, or email account passwords. Modifying the DNS can also be done here for domain names that are added in the account.
How to Log In to cPanel:
- Enter your cPanel login URL on your browser (e.g. yourdomain.com/cpanel).
Or, log in via SG or AU Vodien website: Click My Account, then select cPanel Login from the drop-down list. - Enter your Username and Password in the fields provided.
- Click on the Log In button.
What is WHM?
WHM, on the other hand, is a backend access where you can modify the content and configure the settings inside the cPanel account. It also allows you to create a cPanel account, which is available for Dedicated Server, VPS, and Reseller hosting accounts. This is also where you can delete or suspend a cPanel account.
How to Log In to WHM:
- Enter your WHM login URL on your browser (e.g. vps.yourdomain.com/whm).
- Enter your Username and Password in the fields provided.
