Automatic upgrading of the website’s applications installed in cPanel through Softaculous has its advantages and disadvantages.
Auto–upgrading makes sure that the website application is up to date. However, since it is automatic, there will be changes made to the website which you may not be aware of. Because of this, doing upgrades manually might be a better option since you can check and approve the action first before making any changes to the website.
The instructions provided herein are applicable if the website is installed in Softaculous.
Note: Not all Softaculous applications have the Auto Upgrade option. Login to the website’s admin page instead to check if an automatic update option is available. |
Step 1. Log in to cPanel.
Step 2. Click the Softaculous Apps Installer icon found under Software menu.
Step 3. Make sure PHP is chosen at the top, then click the Installations button.
Step 4. Click the corresponding pencil icon of the website that needs to be configured.
Step 5. Under Installation Details, choose the preferred setting for the Auto Upgrade. Tick Upgrade to any latest version available radio button if you want the Auto Upgrade enabled. Otherwise, choose Do not Auto Upgrade.
Step 6. Click the Save Installation Details button to save changes.
A page like shown in the screenshot below will appear after changes have been successfully saved.
