FTP or File Transfer Protocol is used to manage website files locally from your computer to the server where your website is hosted. To manage your files, you will need your credentials to connect to your server. FTP credentials are provided when your Web Hosting is ready for you to use. These are the following credentials:
- FTP Username
- FTP Password
- FTP Hostname/Address
If you haven’t changed your credentials from the time you’ve purchased your Web Hosting, you may check your Account Manager under Email Notifications the email with a subject: ‘Your Web Hosting is Ready‘.
Another way to get your FTP credentials is through cPanel:
Step 1. Log in to the cPanel using link format: http://yourdomain.com/cpanel
Replace yourdomain.com with the Main Domain Name connected to your hosting.
Step 2. Click FTP Accounts under Files panel.
Step 3. You’ll see the list of FTP Users under FTP Accounts.
Note: Your FTP Hostname/Address is always your hostname/username. In case you forgot the password to your FTP credentials, here’s How To Change FTP Password. |
