Redirect Your HTTP Site to HTTPS

To have your customer or viewers trust your website’s security should be intact. In this case, having an SSL on your website is essential. Google has made it mandatory to have all websites secured back in 2018.

Vodien’s Business Hosting is offering free SSL for you. However, with WordPress and Basic Web Hosting plans, SSL is not included with the package but it is supported. You will need to get an SSL Certificate to have your website secured.

Once your SSL Certificate is installed, you need to redirect your HTTP website to your secured one (HTTPS). There are two ways for you to do it, adding a code or install a plugin if you are using a WordPress website.

Here is the code you need to add in you .htaccess file:

RewriteCond %{HTTPS} off
# First rewrite to HTTPS:
# Don’t put www. here. If it is already there it will be included, if not
# the subsequent rule will catch it.
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ https://%{HTTP_HOST}%{REQUEST_URI} [L,R=301]
# Now, rewrite any request to the wrong domain to use www.
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^www\.
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ https://www.%{HTTP_HOST}%{REQUEST_URI} [L,R=301]

Or you may use this one:

RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^yourdomain\.com [NC]
RewriteCond %{SERVER_PORT} 80
RewriteRule ^(.*)$$1 [R=301,L]

If you are using WordPress for your website, the plugin called Really Simple SSL is one-click away for the redirection. Once you’ve installed and activated this plugin, your website will show HTTPS in a matter of minutes.
