FAQ: I wanna upgrade my hosting plan? What do I need to do?
If you wish to upgrade your hosting plan, you may need to email our Billing Department. We will then check if the desired package suits your needs and will provide a prorate price for the charges and ask for a confirmation from you if you want to proceed with the upgrade.
What happens during the upgrade process?
If you are upgrading your hosting account under the same server e.g. from webValue upgrading to webPlus, all data are carried over automatically.
On the other hand, if you are upgrading from different hosting plans e.g. webExpert to bizElite, migration of data files are needed. Vodien will then migrate all your existing data. By default, we will always plan for the migration sequence to take place during a weekday, between Mondays-Thursdays.
Once the migration schedule has been affirmed, we will work within a 12-hour timeframe from between 2100hrs-0900hrs (UTC+8) to complete the entire data migration sequence.
FAQ: Will there be any downtime with my website/s?
No downtime will happen during the migration. However, it is not advisable to make changes on your account an hour before the migration until the migration process is finished.
FAQ: What happens to my emails?
If your email users are using the server’s hostname on their email client settings (SSL setup), they must update the incoming and outgoing server hostname to the new server hostname. Otherwise, emails will no longer be functional since the old hosting package will be suspended after 24 hours to avoid inconsistency with the data.
However, if they are using the non SSL setting e.g. ‘mail.domain.com’, there is no need to update the email client settings as it will propagate.
